A native of New York City, I have a Masters degree in Latin American Literature from New York University. I came to Oaxaca in 1971, via a Stanford University doctoral program, to work for Dr. John Paddock, author of “Ancient Oaxaca” and curator of the Frissell Museum in Mitla. Two years later I began 8 years of teaching and research at the IIISEO, an Institute of the State of Oaxaca dedicated to training young people from the indigenous communities to teach Spanish as a second language. Living here permanently for over 30 years and married into a traditional Oaxacan family, I have developed a unique perspective of the land and its people. As a Federally certified tour guide with over 20 years of experience I can help you participate first hand in Oaxacan life. Among the Institutions and individuals that have joined my tours are: The Getty Museum of Los Angeles, The Culinary Institute of America, the Archaeological Conservancy, and chef Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill, PBS “Mexico: One Plate at a Time). |
